How can you protect yourself? Stay as fit and healthy as you can by exercising and eating a balanced diet. If you smoke, now is a good time to quit. Men are more likely than women to: ■ smoke and smoke more cigarettes per day and smoke hand-rolled tobacco ■ eat too much salt ■ eat too much red and processed meat ■ eat too little fruit and too few vegetables ■ drink alcohol and drink at hazardous levels Coronavirus spreads when an infected person coughs or sneezes small droplets - packed with the virus - into the air. These can be breathed in, or cause an infection if you touch a surface they have landed on, then your eyes, nose or mouth. So, coughing and sneezing into tissues, not touching your face with unwashed hands, and avoiding close contact with infected people are important.
